Professional Practice and Experience
BUSN13004

Welcome to the work integrated learning (WIL) information page

During your course you will undertake the BUSN13004 Professional Practice and Experience unit that provides you with the opportunity to consolidate knowledge of your chosen profession/discipline and demonstrated graduate attributes through an authentic work integrated learning experiences of your choice: a WIL work placement, global experience or project. The work integrated learning office facilitates the WIL work placement option for the unit.

Please refer to your course plan to identify when BUSN13004 is planned for your enrolment.

WIL Work Placement

The WIL placement creates an opportunity for you to gain practical work experience, where you can apply discipline knowledge and critical thinking skills or propose creative, ethical and innovative solutions in the workplace. You will build experience within your area of study, and increase your understanding of what skills, work ethic and practical aspects employers value.

How do I choose this experience?
Students will need to source their own placement within the requirements of the learning outcomes and inform the WIL unit. The WIL unit will confirm the placement prior to you having permission to attend.

How flexible is the WIL work placement?
Students are required to undertake at least 60 hours of WIL work placement from week 3 or 4 of the term and completed by week 11 of the term. Placement may be flexible, one day or more per week, or in one full-time block, depending on what the organisation can offer and for the student to receive a valuable experience and achieve the learning outcomes of the unit. Assessment documents for the WIL work placement will be available for students on the unit Moodle page.

Global Experience

Not all work integrated learning opportunities are based in Australia. CQUniversity also promotes and supports a range of learning and partner opportunities offshore. CQU Global facilitate experiences for students both online and abroad, leaving you with memories that will stay with you for a lifetime!

How do I choose this experience?
CQU Global facilitate these experiences for CQUniversity. Students can view the CQU Global brochure and register their interest with cquglobal-out@cqu.edu.au to secure your experience.

Research Project

Students may prefer to undertake a Research Project (your choice of topic) instead of a WIL work placement or Global Experience. Information in relation to this experience will be available for students on the unit Moodle page.

Further Information

Students please note that not all students can be guaranteed the WIL work placement or global experience option. In this instance students will undertake the research project experience to meet the requirements of this unit.
